Parkland Housing Market
The Parkland real estate market became a part of the City of Calgary in 1961, and the development of the community began over a decade later in 1974. The name of the neighbourhood was chosen to acknowledge its connection with Fish Creek Park. The 20-metre wide strip connecting the community with the park gives residents fast direct access to its amenities.
Buyers can choose from a wide variety of Parkland homes for sale. Most dwellings in the neighbourhood are detached single-family houses but there are also semi-detached and townhouses available. There are also a small number of condos for sale. You can expect to find beautiful modern homes surrounded by green spaces and trees and the views of the surrounding meadows and forests are absolutely breathtaking.
Parkland Neighbourhood Amenities
One of the most attractive amenities for Parkland residents is Fish Creek Park. It has long pathways for walking and biking and offers amazing bird watching experiences. In the summer, the beach at Sikome Lake welcomes everyone that wants to enjoy sunbathing and swimming. Home buyers actively participate in the preservation of the wildlife of the park.
There are plenty of shopping opportunities in close proximity to Parkland homes. In addition to the big box stores at Macleod Trail, there is Deer Valley Mall and the largest mall in this part of the city, Avenida, is also close by.

The Parkland Community Association manages various facilities including a hockey rink with boards, lighting and a Zamboni. The community centre has a gym and a playschool, which the youngsters absolutely love. The association organises a variety of events for everyone in the neighbourhood to enjoy, including a Halloween party and a Winter Festival.
Parkland Local Schools
The community is served by two schools, Prince of Wales Elementary and St. Philip Elementary, which will make parents happy when they are buying a home for sale in Parkland. Students also have easy access to high schools and other elementary schools in the southeast part of Calgary including Sam Livingston Elementary, Fairview Junior High School and Lord Beaverbrook High School.
