The area now known as Fairview was annexed to the city in 1956. Three years later, in 1959, the neighbourhood was established. At the time, Calgary was undergoing a thorough urbanization program and Fairview benefited from this with prompt real estate development in the area. Fairview is generally considered as two separate halves.
