Established in 1910, Parkhill is one of Calgary's longest standing residential real estate areas. Built on a hillside overlooking Stanley Park, the area takes its name directly from its location. The eastern side of Parkhill has been primarily developed as a commercial and industrial zone, while the western half of the area is mainly residential. A preservation order was put into place in the mid 90's in an effort to maintain and preserve some of the original historical buildings that still stand in this western half of the neighbourhood.
