Mission Condominium Market
The history of Mission real estate dates back as far as 1883, when two Catholic priests by the names of Father Lacombe and Father Leduc set up areas of land that were intended to be self-sufficient. This area grew and a predominantly French community began to form. Originally the community was known as Rouleauville after two brothers that founded the Holy Cross hospital. By the time the area was annexed to the city of Calgary in 1907, however, the French community had waned and the area was renamed Mission. Currently, there is an area redevelopment plan in place for Mission with the intent of restoring and regenerating some parts of the community.
Today real estate in Mission is mainly comprised of apartment blocks and condominium buildings and has a population of roughly 4,500 people. Thanks to the number of high rise buildings in the area, it is considerably more densely populated than many of the outlying suburban areas of Calgary. In addition to the apartments and condominiums, there is also a small selection of detached, semi-detached and Mission townhomes in the vicinity.
