Marlborough Housing Market
Real estate development in the community of Marlborough began when the neighbourhood was established in 1967. The community was named after the market town of Marlborough in England and it took more than two decades for residential development to be completed in the 1990's with the addition of houses on the west end of Marlyn Way.
It is set between Trans Canada Highway in the north, 52 Street E in the east, Memorial Drive in the south and 36 Street E in the west. The other parts of the city are easy to reach via both private and public transportation with Calgary easily accessible by car using 16 Avenue NE and Memorial Drive SE. The airport is fairly close by as well. The community is served by the C-Train LRT system with two local stations just minutes away from home; a trip to the downtown area takes around 20 minutes.
The majority of Marlborough homes for sale are single-family homes. Buyers can choose from a variety of detached houses with one or two floors and different numbers of bedrooms and bathrooms. There are some great townhouses on the market as well. The neighbourhood does offer condos for sale, even though the condominiums and apartments account for only 4% of residences within its boundaries.
Marlborough Neighbourhood Amenities
Marlborough Mall is in the neighbourhood and the surrounding shopping area has Walmart and Home Depot stores as well as other amenities. Three other malls, Market, Pacific Place and Chinook are about 10 kilometres away, while London Towne Square is a major local entertainment hub with its selection of cinemas. All this means that Marlborough Is a great place to call home when you're looking to purchase a property with a little bit more and love the atmosphere of living close to older homes in an established community.
Marwood Park and Applewood Village Park are walking distance from homes for sale in the community. Bottomlands Park and Albert Park are also close by. Some of the major attractions for sports lovers in the local area are the Inglewood Golf & Curling Club and the Bow Waters Canoe Club.
The Calgary Marlborough Community Association sponsors a variety of programs and activities for residents. Village Square Leisure Center offers fun activities, programs and classes for both children and adults. It houses two ice skating arenas, a wave pool with slides, rooms for fitness and dancing and a jungle gym for youngsters.

The public schools serving home buyers in the community are Marlborough Elementary, Chris Akkerman Elementary and Bob Edwards Junior High. The separate St. Mark Elementary School is also in the neighbourhood and the local community association has a pre-school program.
