Airdrie Best Master-Planned Neighbourhoods

One of Alberta's best and fastest-growing communities is the city of Airdrie, a northern suburb of Calgary just 35 kilometres up the Queen Elizabeth II Highway. With one visit, it's easy to see why people are flocking to the city's beautiful scenery, convenient amenities, and great location. But one of the most common draws for would-be homebuyers is the affordable, high-quality housing available in Airdrie's master-planned communities. Here's a look at five excellent options to call home within and near the city.

Wildflower

Wildflower is a unique, newly established, "farm-inspired" community on the west side of Airdrie, near 24 Street SW. Embracing the area's agricultural roots, this high-end development includes nearly 30 acres of green space accessible via an expansive network of trails. It's situated at one of the highest points in Airdrie, providing views of the city and even Calgary in the distance.

The centrepiece of the Wildflower community is the massive amenity building with a community room, an outdoor pool and hot tub, a fire pit, and an enclosed "tot lot" for kids to play. It's also the site of year-round sports facilities functioning as a basketball court during summer and an ice rink during winter. Meanwhile, the community is conveniently close to many Airdrie schools, parks, and more.

Homes are exclusively single-family detached properties built in variations of the farmhouse style. They include three or four bedrooms and range from just under 1,500 to more than 2,500 square feet of living space. Many properties back directly onto the neighbourhood's preserved green spaces, providing extra privacy for relaxing outdoors and enjoying features like private pools. Homes for sale in Wildflower start just north of half a million, topping out at around $800,000.

South Point

South Point spans over 70 acres between the Queen Elizabeth Highway and 8 Street SW. As the southernmost of our top master-planned communities in Airdrie, it's also the closest to Calgary, shaving valuable time off the drive for everyday commuters.

The South Transit Centre is right across the road from South Point. This is just part of the community's high walkability and bike-ability, which also includes South Point Village, a hub of shopping, restaurants, office space, and more, putting everyday errands steps away from residents' front doors. There's even an off-leash dog park for South Point's four-legged friends to play while their owners socialize with neighbours.

South Point residents are not responsible for any HOA or other fees. Single-family homes and townhouses in various floor plans and styles comprise South Point's housing options, and high-end features range from large garages to separate suites. Most properties include three or four bedrooms spread over 1,600–2,200 square feet. Homes for sale in South Point generally list from just over half a million dollars to around $600,000.

Even within Chinook Gate, there are more than 10 acres of green space and other public spots for community members to relax and socialize. The community also includes room for future school sites right within the neighbourhood.

Chinook Gate's location is ideal, just a few minutes from central Airdrie and a short drive from Calgary and the Calgary International Airport. This also put it close to the extensive shopping and dining options along Queen Elizabeth II Highway.

Housing in Chinook Gate is a mix of duplexes and detached single-family homes with both front garages and lane access, designed by some of the area's most acclaimed builders. High-end features include walk-in pantries and closets, quartz counters, bonus rooms, and more. Golfers can also hit the links at Collicutt Siding Golf Club, just down the road from home.

The area is also home to Osborne Park, a community hub linked by a network of neighbourhood walking trails. Here, residents can relax with a picnic and let the kids play on the spacious playground, just steps from home.
