For a bit more adventure, try out your moves in the skateboard park or get a workout on any of the four beach volleyball courts or eight baseball diamonds. The park has over two kilometres of paved walking, running, and biking paths. During winter, visitors can get out on the cross-country ski trail, and the park's Toboggan Hill is the perfect place for sledding.

Admission and parking are free, and Chinook Winds is open daily from 6 a.m. to 11 p.m.

Gwacheon Park

Gwacheon Park is a small arts destination within Nose Creek Regional Park. It's a monument to the relationship between Airdrie and its sister city, Gwacheon, Korea, and the butterfly-shaped flower gardens are a nod to Gwacheon's city symbol. In 2007, Gwacheon gave Airdrie six handcrafted totem poles to commemorate their sister city relationship. The totem poles and many other examples of public art can be visited in Gwacheon Park today. 

Other features in the park include a pond, fountain, and picnic tables, and the park is also an access point for the Trans Canada Trail. Visitors praise the seasonal flower beds and elaborate lights put up at Christmas.

Gwacheon Park is open from 6 a.m. to 11 p.m. each day, and there is ample parking and free admission for visitors.

Nose Creek Regional Park

This 20-acre park is a hidden gem near downtown Airdrie. Nose Creek Regional Park offers opportunities to see various wildlife in its natural habitat, including beavers, deer, and coyotes. The park is also an excellent place for bird watching, with many seasonal and year-round species.

The Nose Creek pond is stocked with trout twice each summer, giving anglers a great place to spend time during the warmer months. Fishermen can also find northern pike, yellow perch, and other species.

Iron Horse Park

Iron Horse Park is one of the more unusual attractions in Airdrie. The Alberta Model Engineering Society operates the park and hosts a number of 1/8th-scale diesel and steam locomotives. Visitors can climb on board the trains for a 1.6-kilometre interpretive journey. Along the way, they'll learn about the Canadian Pacific Railway's history and what Western Canada was like during the pioneer era. Visitors will see models representing farmland, small towns, and industrial-age factories. The park is a work in progress, and new exhibits are added regularly.

There are picnic tables on-site to host small gatherings, though pets, grills, smoking, and alcoholic beverages are not permitted. Visitors can purchase snacks and souvenirs at the concession stand, which is housed in a full-sized replica of a CPR station.

A handicap-accessible fishing dock is at the east end of the lake, which is stocked periodically. Runners, joggers, and bicyclists can enjoy activities along the paved trails.

The park is open seasonally and varies throughout the year. While admission is free, tours on the miniature trains cost $3 each. Visitors can also buy an eight-pack of tickets for $20.

Fletcher Park

Admission to Fletcher Park is free, and its hours are from 6 a.m. to 11 p.m. Free parking is available at the north and south ends of the park—the north lot is larger and is often less crowded than the south one.
